My Cozy Sunday Home Spa Ritual | The Menzini Files

As busy as the work week can get sometimes, the weekends are all mine. I like to tick off every task on my to-do list after work and save Saturdays for brunch and errands, but Sunday is different. Sunday is saved for me-time. For my Sunday Home Spa Ritual, to be exact.

We talked about the importance of me-time before, but my favorite kind is to pamper myself with a wellness ritual at home, especially in fall and winter, there’s something special about making time for yourself in the convenience of your own home and just be.

Especially on a day like today, after holiday feasts and a carb-cookie-coma galore, a little pamper time in my very own home needs to be happening asap.

I start my home spa ritual with dry brushing. I bought a dry brush nearly a year ago but always forgot to actually use it. When I finally did pick it up though, it really made a difference! My skin is much smoother and since dry brushing stimulates the lymph system, it also increases my energy and instantly puts me in a good mood. I hop into the shower right after and really max out the wellness part by using organic products with essential oils. Right now, I love Kiehl´s Grapefruit Body Cleanser. I feel like it makes such a difference to use natural products and makes the whole flat smell amazing.

For my hair, I recently got the Lavender Rosemary Shampoo from John Masters Organics as well as the Citrus Neroli Conditioner from their line. My hair feels squeaky clean, healthy and bouncy when dry. So far, I like it and think about trying out their scalp treatments as well. Since I ran out of hair masks, I just came up with an easy coconut oil-based one which I applied before dry brushing to let it work its magic.

After a good shower, I am treating myself to a Green Tea or Cucumber Eye Mask from Sephora. It’s witchcraft and 15 minutes later, I look more awake and the under-eye-area is supple and moisturized and glowy. It’s glorious!

I am not sold on the whole face sheet-mask-craze, to be honest. I prefer to apply the gooey stuff, let it dry, and wash it off. My favorite real moisturizing mask is, hands down, the Fresh Rose Mask which I sadly ran out of (insert crying face emoji). It’s that good!

Last but not least, it would not be a proper home spa ritual without applying a nice dose of face oil. Right now, it’s either Josie Maran’s Pure Argan Oil or Tata Harper’s Replenishing Nutrient Complex. Finally, I bundle up in my favorite pj’s, light a candle, and enjoy a cup of tea while reading or watching YouTube videos.

That’s how I like my Sunday home spa ritual – aromatherapy-heavy, some pampering, and relaxing. Add a good night of sleep and I am all set for just another week at work…

Do you have a special Sunday home Spa Ritual?

Yep, the weekend is all mine too! I spent yesterday and today reading, writing, and re-watching a favorite TV show (Misfits for the win!). Now I’m watching another episode with a face mask on and reading some blogs! :)

That´s the best way to spend a Sunday! I totally agree! I used to be all worked up and stressed out but since I made a habit out of scheduling Sunday solely for me-time, it´s been such a change for the better!

Sounds like a good ritual! I treat myself to a beauty ritual every other weekend… Usually a deep conditioning treatment for my hair and I give myself a pedicure. I try to take care of my facial routine more daily, and focus more on eating healthier/drinking lots of lemon water to keep my skin clear and glowing. As long as I don’t slip up with that it stays pretty nice! I never dry brush (I should!) but I almost always exfoliate in the shower with this oatmeal and honey body scrub I make.

Lavender Rosemary shampoo sounds just heavenly, though! I love trying new hair care products! I’m going to find this one!

Thanks, Amber! A good scrub is all it takes, right? I do love Frank Body Scrub but sometimes I can´t be bothered with the mess it leaves behind, so dry brushing it is right now :) I am a sucker for all things lavender, so that shampoo is a game changer for me!

This all sounds so heavenly! I’d love to borrow that bathroom for the ultimate spa day. :)
I had a mini at home spa day this evening, a nice face cleansing, an avocado clay mask, eye cream, and argan balm for a heavy duty moisturizer. I took a bath and used part of a Lush bubble bar too.
I ordered a dry brush from Amazon and can’t wait to use it! I want to treat my skin better and I’m hoping this will help!
You know that I send you those sheet masks because they are so easy to ship to you!!

Ha, me too. Don´t know when I had a bathtub and a hot bath for the last time. A shower must do these days. Dry brushing really is a life changer! I know, they need very little space. I still have many left since I want to “save” them, but still, when it comes to liquid masks, I loove the fresh Rose mask. It´s divine!
